There are mere mortals like us, and there are superhumans who seem to do everything – and we just cannot comprehend how. A mega-successful career? Bank accounts with salaries that need more than ten fingers to count? Respected all over the world for their work and contribution to their companies?
But all this comes at a price. All these successful people don’t have something that we all have – a good night’s sleep. Read on to know more about these super humans:
Marissa Mayer – CEO of Yahoo
Marissa Mayer gained the reputation for working very hard at Google, working for as many as 130 hours in a week. She is said to sleep only four to six hours a night. She recharges herself by taking week long vacations every four months.
Narendra Modi – Prime Minister of India
63 years old, and yet he shows no sign of stopping! Not only is he hard-working, but it is also believed that he sleeps for less than 4 to 5 hours in a day.
Jack Dorsey – Twitter founder and Square CEO
In an interview in 2011, Jack Dorsey revealed that he was spending eight to 10 hours a day at Square, and eight to 10 hours a day at Twitter. Let me remind you ladies and gentlemen that there are only 24 hours in a day. But apparently not for Mr. Dorsey! He still manages to get up at 5:30 every morning to take a jog.
Indra Nooyi – Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo
PepsiCo is the second largest food and beverage business in the world by net revenue. It must be a hard job indeed, to take up the position as Chairman and CEO of such a huge company! According to CNN Money, she sleeps a meager 4 hours every night. She also worked worked midnight to 5 a.m as a receptionist to earn money while getting her masters at Yale.
Tim Cook – CEO of Apple
Even at 54 years old, he is always the first one to enter the office and the last one to leave the office.People who work with him in his office are used to receiving e-mails from him even at 4:30 in the morning.
Martha Stewart, chair of Martha Stewart Omnimedia
She has her own TV show, radio show, and product lines in stores like Staples and Michaels. Her company produces the magazines Martha Stewart Living, Everyday Food, Weddings, and Whole Living. All this…and she sleeps less than four hours every night.
Helena Morrissey, CEO of Newton Investment Management
In an interview with The Guardian, she said that she gets up at 5 in the morning, sometimes even earlier,and immediately starts sending emails until her kids get up. After having dinner with her family at 7:30 p.m, she works again for as much as 2 hours, prepping for the next morning’s meetings.
Oh and did I mention that she has nine children? Seems like we have found our real-life Superwoman.
Sergio Marchionne – Fiat CEO
Sergio Marchionne is an Italian-Canadian executive widely known for his turnaround of the Italian automotive group Fiat and, more recently, for managing the US automotive group Chrysler from bankruptcy to profitability. Supposedly, Marchionne works on four hours of sleep a night, fueled by coffee and cigarettes.
Shah rukh Khan – Actor
The King of Bollywood is known to sleep for as less as 4 hours every night. And yet he never fails to bring that astounding energy on screen every time!
Howard Schultz – CEO of Starbucks
That astounding net worth of $2.2 billion did not build itself. He is known as the Chairman and CEO of Starbucks – which needs no introduction. He gets up at 4:30 a.m every day. Well, he certainly doesn’t have to worry about not waking up to a nice cup of coffee, though!
