Sehwag’s Wife Aarti Is His Relative – See How Her Life Has Changed after Marriage

The former swashbuckling opener of Indian cricket, Virender Sehwag has been married for the last 12 years to Aarti Ahlawat. He tied the knot with Aarti, daughter of well known Advocate Suraj Singh Ahlawat, in Delhi on April 22, 2004.

He has garnered a reputation of being one of the wittiest Indian celebrities on Twitter but he is quite a shy person in his personal life.

Aarti is a BA graduate from Maitreyi College, Delhi.

So much so, that despite knowing her wife since childhood, it took the Nawab of Najafgarh 14 years to propose her.

Although Sehwag wasn't too serious about the proposal, Aarti accepted it.

Interestingly, the cricketer’s wife is his distant relative. Aarti’s paternal aunt had got married in the Sehwag’s family and therefore they used to meet each other on various family occasions.

At that time Virender Sehwag was just 7-years-old and Aarti was 5-years-old.

Sehwag proposed Aarti after their 14 years long friendship.

Sehwag was one of the most feared batsmen at the twilight of his career.

She gave up her aspiration of a career in public relation and focused on her personal life

The couple are happily married with two sons, Aryavir, born on October 2007 and Vedant, born in 2010.

The two had an affair for almost 3 years before getting married.
